At about 3 years old, she didn't arrive with much training, but she has proven to be housebroken and has never had an accident indoors. While she's still getting used to her crate—taking her meals inside but not considering it her favorite spot—Gladys now knows how to sit and lie down on command and listens when it suits her. She's still working on resisting the temptation to linger in the kitchen during meal times, a spot she claims with her endearing and determined presence. Inside, Gladys is relaxed and loves to nap on the couch or snooze in warm sunlight out back. She believes she makes a fabulous lap dog, and after just a few hours, she will be cuddled up next to her new person. Although sweet and gentle inside the house, she was initially highly reactive to other animals on walks. Thanks to a year of loving guidance and professional training, Gladys now handles encounters on walks much better with little barking and only minimal pulling. She may do well with another calm dog who can help her continue developing good social skills. While she has decided cats aren't her cup of tea, her progress with dogs is promising.
