About Dottie

Dottie is a 4-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier and Pit Bull Terrier mix currently fostering in Spring, TX, and open to adopters nationwide. She’s a solid 62 pounds, spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for a home where she’ll be given plenty of love—ideally with adults or an all-female household. Dottie has a sweet spot for both dogs and cats; she’s living with both right now. With dogs, she does best either solo or with one or two others in a calm environment (big groups can amp her up), but would be just as happy getting all your attention as the only pet. Dottie loves walks and keeps pace nicely on leash—with mild pulling and some barking if other dogs pass by, but she listens well. Indoors, she’s reliably house trained and crate trained. She’ll protest with a little whining at first when left, but is nondestructive and settles quickly, often curling up in her kennel or next to her person. Dottie’s a people-pleaser: smart, goofy, food motivated, and quick to learn. Her favorite games revolve around rope toys and a good round of tug-o-war. A fun companion who brings plenty of laughs, she thrives with at least one walk or active play session daily, then is happy to snooze beside you. She can be wary of teenage boys or younger males, so a home without them (or an all-women home) is best for her comfort. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.

Questions about Dottie

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Dottie’s mix of American Staffordshire Terrier and Pit Bull Terrier does well in homes with space to move and play, ideally with a securely fenced yard. She thrives in a moderately active and stable household, especially where someone enjoys daily walks and play sessions.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

American Staffordshire Terrier and Pit Bull mixes like Dottie appreciate access to a yard or regular opportunities for outdoor exercise. While she isn’t demanding of huge acreage, a backyard or frequent trips to the park are great for her energy.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Dottie’s breed mix is often affectionate with kids, but Dottie herself is uncomfortable with young males and would do best in a home without teenage boys or young boys. For adult women or homes without young boys, she could be a loyal companion.
