This 5-year-old, 40-pound Black Mouth Cur/mixed breed is a self-sufficient queen who likes to have things on her terms. But behind those wary, soulful eyes is a dog who's still learning how to feel safe enough to let her guard down. Margie doesn't need to be rushed, she just needs a calm, quiet home filled with patience and kindness, where she can settle in at her own pace. Margie can be a bit protective of her space and belongings, especially around high-energy, younger dogs. Because of this, a home without other pets would be ideal. That said, we would still consider a home with a confident, easygoing larger dog or two after a successful meet-and-greet. We can test her with cats prior as well. While she may come off reserved at first, we've already started to see glimpses of her playful side. Margie enjoys rubbing her back and belly on the play yard turf and has even been caught tossing around toys on her own.
