Meet RUFUS! His DNA tells us that he is a mix of Shih Tzu, King Charles cavalier spaniel and a smidge of beagle. Its hard to believe that this dog was abandoned on the streets of Houston Texas to fend for himself. When he came to us, he was quite a mess and neglected - but not anymore! Rufus is a handsome young lad and ready to charm his way into your heart! He is leash and crate trained. Loves other dogs but approaches them cautiously at first - we call that polite. As with most rescue dogs, Rufus is a bit hesitant when he first meets a new person, but once he gets to sniff, he is your best friend! He loves to chase after cats only to play. Once cats figure out he is harmless, they all play with him. Snack? Rufus is your guy! Belly rubs and any chewy toys, especially fabric ones are the way to his heart! Assuming he was scared on the streets, he is scared of sudden loud noises (garbage truck, large yard trucks, Harley Davidsons), but this is something that time and trust can heal. We facilitate adoptions across the US from Houston, Tx for a small additional fee up to $350 (Depending on destination), which includes a health certificate by a licensed vet deeming the pup healthy for travel. Our pups travel in comfort with 24/7 care on licensed transport vehicles including buses and cargo vans.
