About Heathcliff

Pug Rescue of New England (PRoNE) is a non-profit 501(c)(3), all volunteer foster home based rescue organization. Meet Heathcliff 6-year-old Heathcliff is equal parts goofy, curious, and lovable—your classic pug with a big personality and an even bigger love for snacks. Heathcliff was rescued from a nursing home (similar to a no- kill shelter) in Korea by Pug Rescue of Korea on Valentine's Day and he is 100% for certain a LOVE! He travelled to Los Angeles from Korea where he was temporarily fostered before we were able to fly out to pick him up along with his travel companion Figgy. Known by many nicknames (including Cliffbar and Spiffy Cliffy), he’s a charming little guy who wins people over quickly—especially since he believes every single person he meets is his new best friend. Heathcliff loves his walks and would likely make a great little adventure buddy with time and confidence. He also enjoys a good game of fetch and isn’t afraid to get a little “vicious” with his toys during playtime. We don't want to say Heathcliff is a lambie murderer, but Heathcliff is kind of a lambie murderer. When he’s not on the move, you’ll often find him stretched out in the sunshine or snoring up a storm during his midday naps. He’s very food-motivated (understatement of the year), and once he realized food comes from the fridge, it quickly became his favorite hangout spot. He currently eats from a slow feeder and is still learning polite food manners—so tiny hands and unattended snacks beware! Heathcliff can be sensitive to loud noises and may take a little time to decompress in a new environment, but once he feels safe, he settles in nicely and sleeps through the night in his doggy bed. While he loves cuddle time, he’s not overly clingy—he’s happy to be near you without needing constant contact. That said, he is a classic nosy pug and will absolutely follow you around the house as he figures things out and gets comfortable. Heathcliff happily chills with other dogs but can get overwhelmed with high energy pups who get too in his space. He was able to meet the resident cat at the vet's office and was curious but chill. Being that he is so very food motivated, we will seek a home with older experienced children. Heathcliff is a healthy boy. House trained, travels well and has personality plus! Bonus: he’s confident on stairs and ready to keep exploring the world. If you’re looking for a friendly, playful, slightly mischievous companion who will keep you laughing (and keep an eye on your snacks), Heathcliff might just be your guy!
