Reno is a young, male Great Pyrenees mix living in Auburn, NE. At just 7 months old, he isn’t house trained yet and is currently not neutered. Vaccinations are up to date. He will do best in a calm living environment, especially one where he can learn from a resident dog.

About Reno

Reno came off the road in the Ouachita National Forest in Oklahoma, where he survived by scavenging, and landed at Hearts United for Animals in rough shape. He was loaded with fleas and ticks that left his skin raw—he needed weeks of care to bounce back physically and start to decompress. At first, Reno kept his distance, overwhelmed by humans and the unknown, but time and a gentle approach worked. Day by day, he opens up and lets his personality through: soft, cautious, but clearly good-hearted. Reno seems to flourish around other dogs, picking up confidence when he has a canine role model to watch. He isn’t house trained yet and still leans shy, so he needs a calm, patient home—ideally one with another dog—to show him how safe life can get. Ready for a gentle soul with a big heart?
