About Otto

Otto is the kind of puppy who already has a story to tell and he’s just getting started. At only 14 weeks old and 13 pounds, this Dachshund mix has already beaten parvo like an absolute champ. He came out the other side with a little extra grit, a whole lot of personality, and a future that’s finally his to enjoy. Otto will likely be medium-sized when full grown, but right now he’s in that perfect puppy stage. Small enough to fit in your lap (which he’s starting to really enjoy), but big enough to keep up with whatever you’re doing. Personality-wise, he’s exactly what you’d expect from a terrier/doxie blend: smart, curious, a little barky when he has something to say, and just independent enough to keep things interesting. He likes to figure things out on his own, but more and more, he’s choosing people and cuddles over everything else. He’s about 75% potty trained and picking it up quickly because he’s a very smart little guy. He’s doing great with crate training, settles in nicely, and gets along well with all types of dogs. He’d be happy with a canine companion or soaking up attention as your sidekick. That said, Otto is still very much a puppy. Puppies are a lot of work, and it’s important to be realistic about your activity level and the time and patience you can commit to raising a young dog. The payoff is huge! This is the stage where they’re incredibly impressionable, and you get to shape the dog he’ll become. Otto is playful, resilient, and full of personality, with just the right balance of spunky and sweet. He’s already proven he’s a fighter, now he’s just looking for a home where he can grow up, keep learning, and be loved the way he deserves. ************************************ Otto is located in a foster home. We are happy to coordinate a meet & greet for pre-approved adopters. To get started, please submit an adoption application at www.jasperslegacy.org/apply-to-adopt Adoption process: Potential adopters complete our online application. From there, we contact them to continue the screening process including checking references, vet checks, and a personal phone interview. Upon completion, potential adopters are pre-approved. From there, potential adopters are put in touch with the foster parent(s) of the dog they are interested in adopting. If a specific dog is not in mind, admins will make suggestions based on who we feel will be good candidates for their home. We take the foster's opinions into high consideration when determining ideal fit for an adoption. Once the dog is determined to be a good fit for the adoptive home, the adopter is given advisement on decompression, training, safety gear, and future preventative vetting. The adoption contract is signed and adoption fee paid to finalize the adoption.
