About Candy
They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now! Candy is a 3-year-old female who is ready to bring a touch of quirky charm to your home. Weighing around 12 pounds, this medium-sized dachshund mix gets her sweet name from the Dolly Parton classic "Hard Candy Christmas." Much like Dolly herself, Candy comes from the Smoky Mountains and, though her journey hasn't been easy, she's set for brighter days ahead. Candy has a fondness for cheese, celery, and playing with her favorite stuffed pig. While she doesn't mind having humans around—and may even give you a welcoming sniff—she finds petting overwhelming and prefers to be admired from a respectful distance. This little lady absolutely loves cuddling up with fellow dogs (though she’s not a fan of sharing her food) and delights in zoomies when she feels safe, but attempts at leashing or harnessing are not for her. Candy is best appreciated like a piece of fine art: given space, admired, and respected on her own terms. For this reason, she’s better suited for homes without young children or those who need a hands-on pet. With time, patience, and plenty of personal space, Candy will reward her humans with adorable antics—and maybe even a lick or two when she’s ready! Candy is up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped, dewormed, and started on monthly flea and heartworm prevention. All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered, and microchipped before adoption. Please reach out to Mountain Pet Rescue in Asheville, NC, for more information about giving Candy her perfect forever home. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
