About Romeo

Romeo is a 65-pound, four-year-old, loyal, strong and loving, white and tan American Bulldog (or mix) looking for a loving temporary foster/or permanent guardian. Romeo is looking for someone who appreciates a hunk of a dog who loves walks and being loved. He’d love all your attention as the one and only pet in the home. He is full of slobbery kisses and tail wags for the people he loves. Tied to a park bench on Mother’s day of 2024, this dude had swallowed a toy and needed emergency surgery to have it extracted. He’s been in foster care ever since. Sadly, he’s never had a loving home of his very own. He thrills to lay on a comfy dog bed at your feet as you work, or chill and binge watch shows with you. Romeo is great in the car while strapped into the back seat (otherwise he’ll end up trying to cuddle in your lap.) He is fantastic during baths and lets you touch him everywhere. He loves a rubdown and sinks into your touch. Romeo is a healthy hunk, neutered, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, bordetella and leptospirosis, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative, fecal tested, dewormed, and microchipped. He takes fluoxetine (doggie Prozac) for separation anxiety. His separation anxiety manifests itself in panicking and drooling when left alone. Because he has been crated for most of his life, he will need more frequent quick walks to relieve himself at first to refresh his housebreaking skills. He does have a habit of jumping up when excited, so he’s still in training mode and best with a stronger person without children or other pets in the home. His adoption fee has been paid by a generous supporter and he comes with absolutely everything you need to care for him. To meet and possibly foster or adopt Romeo, please fill out an adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/dog-adoption-application/ and follow up to meet him by e-mailing friendsofpetraits@gmail.com He is currently being fostered in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood.
