Because of his past, he can be very reserved and easily overwhelmed by new sights, sounds, sudden movements, and unfamiliar people. Right now, he’s in a foster home where he’s doing wonderfully, but he’s still taking things at his own pace—and that’s exactly what he needs. Cyrus is looking for a calm, patient, adult-only home with another confident dog to help guide him and a securely fenced yard or a committed leash routine for outdoor time. He’s fearful of being approached too quickly, so his future family will need to let him come to them on his own terms and celebrate the small wins along the way. Like any young dog, Cyrus will need continued help with the basics—potty training, leash skills, and household manners—but his biggest need is confidence building and trust. While he may never be a carefree, “go anywhere” kind of dog, Cyrus has so much love to give. With time, consistency, and understanding, he will form a deep, meaningful bond with his person.
