About Yuma

Named after the sunniest city in the U.S., Yuma is a radiant 5-year-old boy (born around March of 2021) who truly lives up to his name. His rescuer shared that he brought so much light into their lives, making “Yuma” the perfect fit for this stunning, gentle soul. Originally thought to be a girl and affectionately called “Sunny,” Yuma spent about six months in the Northview area before being rescued. He then lived safely indoors in a condo for nearly three months while his rescuer transitioned into a new home after marriage. Though he couldn’t join the household due to existing pets, kind neighbors and friends made sure he was never alone - showering him with love and care until he could enter our program on 3/16/26. Yuma is a truly striking cat, with a rich dark orange coat, adorable freckles, and warm, matching eyes that make him impossible to overlook. He had already been neutered and ear-tipped prior to arrival, though he did need a little TLC in the form of a dental cleaning and some help with dematting his soft, downy undercoat. He is FIV+, but very much a lover—not a fighter—and now that he’s safely an indoor cat, he’s focused on the good life. And what a gentle life it is—because Yuma is incredibly laid back. One of the first things we noticed about him is just how easygoing he is. He adores catnip, enjoys attention, and is always his sweet, darling self. While he’s beginning to appreciate being brushed, he can be a bit timid with too much handling and will do best with someone who understands his sensitive nature. Yuma would thrive in a calm, quiet home with someone who is around often—someone who will spoil him, build his confidence, and let his gentle personality continue to blossom. Because of his easygoing but slightly shy demeanor, a home without small children or dogs would be the best fit for him. This sunshine boy has already brought so much light into the lives of those who’ve cared for – own - he’s ready to brighten a home of his very own.
