About Jim
Jim is at our shelter. Please submit an application from our website or just come in to meet him during open hours! Scroll through his pictures to see all of his cute videos! Jim is a sweet young pup who made his way here from Kentucky with his sister Pam. While Pam was immediately outgoing, Jim was completely shut down. When you would walk into their kennel to leash them for a walk, Pam would come up to you excitedly and shower you with kisses, while Jim trembled on his bed and refused to budge. After a couple of days, and with the help of his sister, Jim started to realize it's not so bad here...in fact, it's pretty nice! Jim started going for walks, taking treats, and then he joined his first playgroup and we finally saw the young pup who had been inside the whole time! Jim zoomed and zagged all over the play yard. He splashed through puddles, wrestled with dog friends, and his tail was wagging the whole time! It was such a beautiful sight. Jim has improved every day, and is enjoying his leashed walks, play time with dogs and cuddles with humans. He is still a little shy at first, but it is the sweetest display of shyness. Jim will hide under a bench, and then if you baby talk him he will army crawl out with his tail wagging, give you a little kiss, and then go back under the bench, and repeat that a few times until he leans in for cuddles, and ultimately rolls over. He is the most precious boy! Whether it's a new person or another dog, he comes up slowly, almost tiptoeing, with a quiet earnestness. No jumping, no chaos-just a soft hello and a hopeful little presence that is so endearing, you almost can't even stand it. Everyone at Heartland is a little obsessed with Jim, because once he feels comfortable, he truly blossoms. He becomes incredibly affectionate, sticking close by your side, soaking up attention, and showing just how loyal and loving he is. He's wonderful with other dogs and would thrive with a canine friend to help him continue building confidence. Jim is looking for a patient, kind home that will give him the time he needs to come out of his shell. In return, he'll give you something really special-a deep, trusting bond and a love that feels truly earned. If you're ready to help a shy boy grow into his best self, Jim is waiting for you! Jim's adoption fee is $300. He is neutered, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
