About Gouda
Gouda is at our shelter. Please submit an application from our website or just come in to meet him during open hours! Scroll through his pictures to see his cute videos! 1 year old Gouda is cute and he knows it. If you pull your phone out for a picture, he sits nicely, with his ears perfectly perked on each side, and gives you a big smile. He's ridiculous! Gouda came from a partner shelter in Alabama, and we love him already. He had a foster mom in Alabama who said he is just about the nicest dog she ever fostered (and she has had hundreds!). He has greeted every volunteer and staff member like they've been friends for life! He is very friendly, with dogs too. He's a playgroup regular and loves chasing, (and being chased by) the other dogs. Gouda is the perfect medium size - and looks like a mini Labrador! Although we don't know for sure what breeds he is, we do know for sure that he is wonderful and will make a great companion for any adopter. Come meet him today! Gouda's adoption fee is $300. This animal is neutered and up to date on core vaccines. Gouda is Heartworm positive and is undergoing treatment with us. Heartland will cover the cost of treatment until he is Heartworm negative. Heartworm is not contagious to other dogs or people; it is a mosquito-borne disease. It is both preventable and curable! Once cured, there are no long term health effects associated with having Heartworm. Gouda is on a 28 day course of antibiotics, after which he will receive three injections to treat his Heartworm, all to take place at our shelter with our veterinarian, at no cost to an adopter. Injection 1: 5/5/26 Injection 2: 6/2/26 Injection 3: 6/3/26 That will complete the treatment, but he will need a quick retest at the adopter's vet 9 months post-treatment to make sure that he is Heartworm-free.
