About Caine Sterling
Click apply to start the adoption process. Caine Sterling’s journey is one of heartbreak, but also tremendous hope. He was found abandoned in a ditch, left in a crate and all alone, having been let down by the world he once trusted. Because of this traumatic experience, Caine is extremely fearful and completely shut down. At this moment, he cannot be touched and is still learning that people can be safe. Caine needs a uniquely special home—one with an experienced, patient, and deeply compassionate person who has experience with severely neglected, fearful dogs. He needs someone who will honor his boundaries, go at his pace, and celebrate every tiny sign of progress. His recovery will not happen quickly or easily, but for the right adopter, his trust will be a truly meaningful reward. A calm, quiet environment is absolutely essential for Caine as he begins to decompress and learn what it is to feel safe. He may not show affection for some time, but he truly deserves the chance to discover what kindness and love are. Underneath the fear is a dog who has yet to experience any kindness—waiting for the person who will teach him how good life can be. Caine cannot share a home with other dogs, particularly large breeds, as the best environment for him will be a single-dog, adult-only household. If you feel called to provide a safe haven for a dog who has never known love, Caine is waiting for his second chance at happiness. Born on March 23, Caine Sterling is an Aries—a sign known for courage and determination. Give them the home they have been waiting for. Apply today.
