About Valerie

Valerie is a small Miniature Schnauzer who spent her early years as a breeding dog in a puppy mill, so everything in her foster home was new and strange at first. She arrived carrying the weight of past trauma and needing urgent surgery for a painful, infected hernia. That’s all behind her now. These days, Valerie curls up for naps on her favorite spot on the couch and even seeks out gentle cuddles from her foster mom—major milestones for a dog that once hid at every sound. She’s still timid around sudden movement and prefers calm, patient people, ideally women, as she’s more relaxed and open to affection with them. Valerie gets along well with other dogs and has shown no aggression with children in her foster environment. She’ll need an adopter with steady patience and a soft touch, preferably someone experienced with shy or puppy mill release dogs. Valerie is spayed, vaccinated, and house trained. Her progress continues daily, and her best years are ahead. Adoption from Homer Glen, IL. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.
