About Bonnie

***Bonnie is currently located at our Rescue in Georgia. She will be available for adoption at the Tractor Supply in Ringoes, NJ over the April 18-19 weekend. An application for her adoption can be submitted at socorescue.com (no need to register or login). Questions about Bonnie and/or our adoption policy should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com; please don't call the Rescue's number.*** On a cold night in January we were made aware that a small dog and a number of puppies had been discarded on Vance Rd just below SoCo Rescue's location. Over a span of four hours Scott Bennett, with the help of some concerned citizens, trudged through the woods, thick with overgrown thorns and dead vegetation, in an attempt to corral the mom and eight young pups. While the mom and six of the pups were Chihuahua mix, two of the pups, Bonnie and Clyde, were a Bully breed. Late into the night and after the others had all went home, Scott was finally able to capture the last of the pups and get them to SoCo Rescue. It didn't take long at all for Bonnie, who was only about 8 weeks old at the time, to become very accepting of our help and show just how much she appreciated being rescued. We're not sure how long she and the others had been living in the woods, but her time as a homeless pup had begun to take it's toll on her little body. Covered in fleas, suffering from a skin rash and full of worms and parasites didn't deter this sweet girl from showing us her wonderful personality. She's been very well socialized towards people, loves playing with other pups, making her an ideal candidate for just about any home situation, even one with children who are familiar with handling a young pup. Bonnie has already received all of her first year "puppy" vaccines, been de-wormed multiple times and started on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. While still slightly evident, she has almost regrown all of her missing fur caused by her flea infestation. Her adopter must agree to having Bonnie spay once she reaches the appropriate age (typically 6 months) and providing SoCo with verification of such. Bonnie will require all of her basic training.
