About Harley
Meet Harley, the cheerful 7-year-old Golden Retriever who has all the energy and joy of a young pup. Despite a rough start, Harley hasn't lost his resilient, playful spirit or his habit of greeting everyone with a wagging tail and bright, hopeful eyes. Now in rescue care, Harley is thriving on a healthy diet, gentle exercise, and the affection he always deserved. He’s slimmed down from 85 pounds and his coat, once patchy and irritated, is coming back beautifully with proper care and time. Ongoing skin care is part of his routine, but it hasn’t dimmed his happiness or zest for life. Harley approaches each day with a puppy’s enthusiasm—sometimes jumping up to say hello or turning a found object into an impromptu game. He missed out on early training, so he’s still learning the ropes, but he’s bright, eager to please, and responds well to gentle guidance. Daily walks are a highlight, and Harley’s leash manners are already solid. He adores belly rubs, loves spending time right next to his people, and quietly settles in for a nap once he's had some attention. Squeaky toys don’t interest him, but a sturdy rope toy—or a good walk—is always a hit. Harley would do best as an only dog soaking up all the attention or with a calm canine friend who matches his mellow personality. Adoptions are limited to the greater Los Angeles region (including Ventura, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego Counties) to ensure proper screening and follow-up.
