About Trooper
Meet Trooper, an eye-catching Golden Retriever who’s often mistaken for a polar bear at first glance. Trooper is four years old and tips the scales at 100 pounds, making him a true gentle giant. After arriving from a shelter, he’s blossomed in foster care and has become a loyal companion to his foster mom. While Trooper is trustworthy when left alone, he does have a notable prey drive—squirrels, cats, and other critters grab his attention—so he needs a cat-free home. He’s been working with a trainer and now handles nicely on leash, but at his size, he requires a steady hand. Trooper is happiest as an only dog and prefers a calm, quiet environment without children or frequent guests. He can be wary of strangers and appreciates time to settle in, but once he feels safe, he gives his whole heart. This dog thrives with gentle structure and will reward patience with unwavering loyalty. If you’re looking for a devoted walking partner by day and a laid-back companion by night, Trooper’s ready to settle in and finally feel at home. He is adoptable within Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego counties. Click apply to start the adoption process.
