Gus the Ninth arrived at Runaways Animal Rescue through our Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) program. Once examined, there was good news and bad news. The good news was that Gus was already neutered. The bad news was that he was in terrible pain due to what our veterinarian described as "Gingivostomatitis" or severe periodontal disease. Despite the pain he was in, Gus was nothing but gentle, leaning into affection, asking for help the only way he knew how. In that moment, we knew we needed to help. Gus received the dental surgery and care he needed and has been healing in one of our dedicated foster's home. Gus is estimated to be 4 years old and now is looking for all the comforts of a forever home... a warm bed, cozy blankets, and the love of a family.
