About Moonshine

Dog Name: Moonshine Breed: mixed breed Sex: Male Age: 8-10 weeks Weight: 3.5lbs Medical Needs: Remainder of puppy shots, and rabies once old enough. Must be spayed/neutered by the end of August 2026. The appointment is included in the adoption fee at one of the clinics we use and the foster-to-adopt family will need to email GRR to request the appointment when puppy is 18-20 weeks at the clinic closest to them. (Options are Wilmington, Newark, Dover, Georgetown.) Keeping the appointment that's assigned by the clinic will be a condition of adoption. Foster to adopt families must live within one hour of DE and be willing to travel here for the pending appointment. Housebroken: Not yet. Moonshine is just starting to go outside but he seems super trainable. Crate Trained: Yes. Moonshine finds great comfort in his safe space and is happy sleeping in there for 10 hours at night time. He does like to be in the same room as his foster parents. Good in the Car: Yes. This has only been tested twice but he stays calm in his crate in the back of the car. Good on a Leash: Not yet tested. Due to his young age, Moonshine has just started to go outside in the yard. He is super trainable and as smart as a whip. Energy Level: Puppy power to the max during the day, then crashes out after dinner. All this growing business is exhausting! Needs a fenced in yard: No. He is still very small Dog Friendly: Yes. Moonshine was just slowly introduced to the resident dogs in the foster home over the Easter weekend and is learning to play with others and be part of the pack. He seems super social and wants to be in the middle of the action. No little guy syndrome over here!! If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? He doesn't need other dogs, but he certainly enjoys being one of the tribe. Cat Friendly: This has not been tested but with his age, he is very trainable. Kid Friendly: Yes. Moonshine loves kids and the attention he gets from them. He is in the “nipping of toes and pulling shoe string” phase as all puppys do. Totally normal behavior for a pup his age. If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Doesn't matter Special traits that make your foster special or what we need to know about them? Moonshine is an absolute joy to be around. Don't let those big puppy dog eyes fool you. He is the life of the party when it's play time and has a lot of puppy energy to burn off. He is extremely smart and mastered simple tasks with quickly and with ease. Moonshine will need more training as he intergrates into his forever family. Fosters Location: Bishopville, MD Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (If you already have an approved application on file, email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app.)
