About Tony

Tony is a 1.5-year-old English Cocker Spaniel with a striking black and tan coat and plenty of quirks. Typical of the breed, he has a true passion for carrying things—tennis balls, rocks, and anything else he can fit in his mouth during walks. If you feel like throwing a ball, Tony is happy to retrieve it, though he'll make you earn the 'drop' at first. Once he trusts you, he’ll let you take it right out of his mouth for another round. True to his Velcro Cocker reputation, Tony wants to be near his person as much as possible. He'll flourish as an only dog, but could also do fine with a mellow, respectful canine companion who isn’t clingy. If another dog tries to get between Tony and his chosen human, tensions will probably rise. He also prefers to dine solo and has some food bowl protectiveness, though trusts his caretaker to sort that out. Tony takes medication to help manage anxiety, which has made a noticeable difference. He's sometimes vocal on walks when he spots strangers or other dogs, and he’s still building up positive associations with the crate, so patience and treats go a long way. Tony can also be sensitive with grooming and might need a little help to manage through a session. He needs an experienced adopter familiar with the breed, in a home without children. If you appreciate Cocker Spaniel quirks and want a companion who sticks by your side, Tony could be a perfect fit. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.
