Meet Petunia! Petunia is a 1-year-old, 14 lb Shih Tzu/Maltese mix with a personality as bright and beautiful as her name. This sweet, social, and outgoing girl was found as a stray in Detroit, severely matted and overgrown, and sadly never reclaimed. While her past may have been uncertain, her future is nothing but full of love, comfort, and second chances. Petunia absolutely adores attention and thrives on being around her people. She's a happy, affectionate girl who enjoys playing with toys and soaking up all the love she can get. Her friendly nature makes her a joy to be around—she truly hasn't met a stranger she doesn't like. She does well with other dogs and has also done well with cats. Petunia would likely do best in a home with older, dog-savvy children who understand how to respectfully interact with her and match her fun, social energy. Petunia will require regular grooming to keep her coat healthy and comfortable. She is not a dog that should be placed on a tether, as she can become quite vocal when left alone in that setting. She's also not a big fan of the crate just yet, but with patience and consistency, she is slowly learning routine and making progress. This little lady is looking for an active, loving home where she can continue to blossom, be part of the family, and enjoy all the attention she deserves.
