About Cocoa

Cocoa goes by many names, but she doesn’t come when called – not because she’s stubborn, but because she can’t hear you. Her foster mom suspects she’s deaf, but Cocoa doesn’t let that stand in her way; she’s started learning hand signals and especially pays attention when treats are on the line. At about five years old and weighing 15 pounds, Cocoa was found as a stray in December. She spent some time in a warm home over the holidays, but her people never came. Later, she came up positive for heartworms but just finished her treatment and will soon be back to full health. Cocoa shares her foster home with two mellow dogs, including one that towers over her, and that suits Cocoa perfectly since she isn’t looking for playmates – she’s all about the humans in the house. She also lives with four cats that, frankly, she finds quite intimidating and prefers to avoid. Her confidence with them is growing, but she’s happiest when they keep their distance. Among Cocoa’s favorite things: laps to curl up on, tennis balls for endless games of fetch, tug toys, and food. She isn’t picky – if there’s food in reach, she’ll find a way to sample it, including sneaking chocolate when someone left the pantry open (which explains her sweet name) or raiding any forgotten plate. She’s not house trained yet but is making progress. Born December 29, Cocoa is a Capricorn, a zodiac sign known for being tenacious and steadfast – fits her perfectly. If you’re looking for a 15-pound package of loyalty who might ignore your voice but will never ignore your love, Cocoa is ready to meet you. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.
