About Bixby
What are you waiting for? Apply today! Bixby is a spirited small dog who once faced uncertain days running the streets before being rescued. Believed to be either a Harlequin Pinscher—a charming mix of rat terrier and miniature pinscher—or possibly a purebred rat terrier, Bixby’s pedigree simply adds to his unique character. He is vaccinated, dewormed, neutered, microchipped for life, and heartworm negative, staying on top of his wellness with monthly prevention. Bixby’s ear is healing, and while his front leg is slightly crooked from an old malunion, it hardly slows him down. This playful boy loves to roughhouse with larger friends and enjoys walks and car rides. He’s crate trained and improving in the house as long as he’s kept on a steady schedule. Bixby would thrive with or without a canine playmate, though he has a high prey drive and is not suitable for homes with cats. Out-of-area adopters are welcome—but be prepared to meet Bixby in person to complete his adoption journey. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!

Questions about Bixby
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Rat Terrier/Miniature Pinscher mixes typically do well in both apartments and houses, as long as they receive enough exercise and mental stimulation. They appreciate a secure yard but can thrive in various environments with attentive owners.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
A small to medium yard is ideal for this breed mix, but regular walks and playtime can compensate for limited outdoor space. Daily exercise is important to keep them happy and healthy.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Rat Terriers and Miniature Pinschers can be good with respectful children, especially if they are socialized from a young age. Supervision is always recommended when they interact with small kids.
