About Preacher
Preacher is one of two purebred Griffons we recently rescued from a death sentence at our local shelter. They had been impounded after being in a dog fight that their owner tried to break up and got his hand but in the process. Because neither dog was current on vaccines, most importantly Rabies, by law they must be impounded and held for 14 days. Also by Idaho law, they are then deemed "vicious" and cannot be out up for adoption through the shelter. So when their owner refused to come and pick the up, euthanasia was their only option. They were literally hours from being killed when we got the call from the kennel manager who said they were such good dogs and they had been put in a very difficult situation and didn't deserve to die today. We stepped in. They've now been separated (NEVER keep littermates together especially intact males) both been neutered and professionally groomed. They are shining in their new foster homes and are remarkable dogs. Very loving, smart, obedient and kind. They get along with all the other dogs in their foster homes. Preacher does have some separation anxiety. He was the "bottom" dog and Deacon was the alpha. Preacher will need an owner who he can be with more than not. He doesn't do well left home alone. He does not do well in a crate or kennel. He requires an gps fence or a solid 6' traditional fence. He has a strong prey drive and chases cats, chickens, squirrels, birds of any kind and running children. A home without would be best. I doubt he'd ever hurt a child but he's a big, shaggy boy and might scare them! He is a couch potato in the house, he's older so like his naps! He walks very nice on a leash and rides great in the car. He is housebroke but will get into the garbage. He is 7-8 yrs old
