About Susie Long Coat

Your new best friend is just one click away. Meet Susie, an adorable long-coated Chihuahua being fostered in Dallas, TX and seeking a forever family in the Dallas or North Central Texas area. Her sweet name means “beauty,” “joyful,” and “bright,” which truly matches her personality—she’s a playful, loving, and delightful young girl looking for her perfect match. Susie is about 8 months old and weighs approximately 7 pounds. She came to the rescue after her previous owners discovered they weren’t able to provide the care she needed. Since joining her foster home, Susie has flourished. She gets along well with other small dogs and would love a new canine friend close to her age. Susie is energetic, enjoys playtime with toys, and adores playing fetch. She hopes for a home filled with fun family activities and engaging toys. While Susie can be a bit cautious and barky with strangers at first, she quickly settles down and becomes a loyal companion once comfortable. She loves to follow her humans around, ready to join in on whatever they do. Be mindful—her playful spirit and small size mean she can be underfoot and is a dedicated snuggler, especially when it comes to cozy evenings on the couch under a warm blanket. Her gentle, velvety soft golden coat with white highlights will require consistent brushing to maintain her beauty. She’s quick to learn, already knowing how to “sit” for treats, come when called, and is crate trained. Susie is almost fully house trained with just an occasional accident—she thrives with routine and positive reinforcement. An active household with another playful young dog is a must for Susie, and her ideal family can check on her every 4–6 hours. Homes with children should have older, mature kids (13+) due to her size and lively nature. Because Susie can be a “door dasher” and “talks” when excited or alert, she’s not best suited to apartment living—secure barriers and awareness are necessary for her safety. Susie is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on all vaccinations. She’s ready to bring beauty, brightness, and a joyful spirit to her loving forever home in the DFW area. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
