About Susie Long Coat
This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas or North Central Texas area. NAME: Susie GENDER: Female (Spayed) AGE: About 8 months old WEIGHT: About 7 pounds DOGS/CATS: Gets along with other small dogs, Unknown with cats CHILDREN: Should be fine with older, mature children (13 and older) OTHER: Coat Chihuahua Introducing adorable Susie. The name Susie has Hebrew origins and means “beauty”, “joyful” and “bright”. This name fits this girl so well. She is a beautiful, fun puppy and will make a great family dog. Susie was an owner surrender. A young couple had adopted her from a backyard breeder, then found out their apartment complex required a pet deposit which they could not afford. They realized they did not have the financial means to care for her (she also had no vet work done) and they asked CRT if we would bring her into our program, get her vet work completed and find her a forever home. We are happy to help Susie – she is delightful. Susie gets along with other small dogs in her foster home. She has a lot of energy and loves to run and play with them. Susie loves toys of all kinds. She loves to play fetch with balls and her other toys. Susie hopes her new home has fun toys to play with. Susie is a bit cautious when she meets new people. She tends to bark at people she does not know (“stranger danger”). Once she knows she is safe, she settles down and is ready to be friends. Susie loves to snuggle with her humans. This little girl is a velcro dog with her humans. She loves to follow you around the house to see what you are working on. Whatever it is, she wants to be a part of it. Note that she is very active and loves to be right by your feet, so could be a tripping hazard! And she definitely wants to be on your lap while you watch TV in the evenings. If you have a blanket on your lap, she will snuggle under it for hours of rest and relaxation! Susie loves it when her humans come home from running errands and is the first to meet you with excitement and love! Susie is about 8 months old. She currently weighs about 7 pounds, and our vet thinks she is done growing. Susie has a light colored golden coat with white highlights. She has a long coat and will need consistent brushing to keep her coat beautiful. Her ears and eyes are beautiful. Note Susie is athletic and can jump a baby gate. She should settle in as she gets older, but you will want to make sure to keep an eye on her to keep her safe. Susie is doing well with her potty training. She follows the other dogs outside to go potty. As a puppy, she still has occasional accidents in the house. But she is learning quickly and we think keeping her on a regular schedule will keep moving her forward in this area. Susie is a great listener and has learned to “sit” for treats. She will also come when called. Susie is crate trained and will quietly sleep in her crate all evening. We have just completed her vaccinations and will soon begin working with her on a harness and a leash so she can get used to walking. She rides well in a car. The ideal home for Susie would be one with high energy. She would love to have another young dog (maybe 1-3 years) to play with. Applications will not be considered where she would be the only dog. Susie needs a family who can check on her every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works 10-12 hour days). She does “talk” (bark) when she wants attention or hears strange noises, so we do not think she would do well in an apartment environment. There are no children in her foster home, but is a friendly little girl. Due to her tiny size, we recommend a home with older, mature children (13 and older). She is curious and can be a “door dasher”. We recommend a secure barrier around your front door and children will need to be aware to be careful with Susie when opening doors. Susie is being fostered in the DFW (Texas) area.
