This female mixed-breed poodle is a small-sized, apricot-colored companion currently cared for at Ramapo Bergen Animal Refuge. As an adult with special needs due to IVDD, she will need a home prepared to take extra precautions for her safety. She has been vaccinated, and with attention to her weight, she's expected to reach an ideal size of around 10-11 lbs. Queenie enjoys the company of other gentle, small dogs and thrives on human attention.

About Queenie

Your new best friend is just one click away. Sweet Queenie is looking for a special home! About 6 weeks ago, she was surrendered after experiencing a back injury from jumping off furniture, which resulted in temporary loss of use in her back legs. Thanks to prompt care with steroids and strict crate rest, Queenie has regained much of her normal function without surgery. However, since she has IVDD, she is at risk for future injuries and will need a careful and attentive adopter who can ensure she doesn't become overweight, limit jumping and stairs, and provide ramps for safe access. Despite these needs, Queenie has a joyful spirit and doesn't realize she's any different—she still loves to run, play, and go on walks. Queenie is crate-trained, enjoys her outdoor walks, and is housebroken when given a regular routine in her foster home. She can live with other gentle, small dogs who won't accidentally harm her, but above all, she adores attention from people and is a sweet, sociable companion. Queenie is either a smaller mini or larger toy poodle and should reach her ideal weight of about 10-11 lbs soon. If you’d like to meet her, appointments can be arranged as she is currently in foster care and not at the shelter. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.
