About Tootsie
Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now! Meet Tootsie, a resilient little treasure ready for her forever home in New Jersey or the surrounding areas. Tootsie is a nine-year-old poodle who has endured far more than most dogs ever will. Despite an extremely rough start that included being left outside on a short lead, matted to the skin and covered with fleas, Tootsie’s quiet sweetness shines bright today. Thanks to a compassionate rescue volunteer, she received a gentle shave, extensive dental work, and months of loving veterinary care that allowed her to blossom in her foster home. Tootsie's heart is truly happiest around other dogs, and she flourishes with canine companions—especially big ones. Gentle, soulful, and a bit shy at first, Tootsie responds beautifully to patience and kindness, blossoming into a deeply loyal friend. Her favorite activities are mellow strolls around a yard, sniffing the breeze, and celebrating mealtime with an adorable, wiggly happy dance. Tootsie's ideal family will have at least one friendly dog, a secure yard for her to explore at her own pace, and understanding humans who can let her take her time to trust. In return, she’ll reward her new family with steady love and quiet devotion. After years of hardship, Tootsie deserves a safe, soft place filled with kindness and care—could you be the family to offer her the golden retirement she deserves? Think you are the one?
