About Skelly
Skelly (aka Skelly Belly) 2 years old • Female Lab mix • ~40 lbs Skelly Belly is the kind of dog who will make you feel like the most important person in the world. This sweet, affectionate girl absolutely lives for her people and her favorite thing in the world is giving big hugs to the humans she loves. At around 40 pounds with a medium energy level, Skelly enjoys a good play session but also loves hanging out with her people. She enjoys running around with other dogs, playing with toys, and of course—snacks! Food and toys are definitely high on her list of favorite things. Skelly is crate trained, house trained, and leash trained, which makes her an easy addition to a home. She does well with other dogs, though she can have a bit of a dominant personality. She is not good with cats. One of Skelly’s cutest quirks is how much she loves affection. She’ll happily lean in for hugs, and my 15-year-old son even carries her around like a baby sometimes—which she fully enjoys! She’s wonderful with older kids and likely would do fine with younger children too. However, when she gets excited she can jump up to say hello, so any home with smaller kids should be ready to help her continue working on her manners. Skelly’s story is one that makes her even more special. She landed in the shelter as just a puppy and sadly spent the entire first year of her life there. In June 2025, she ended up on the euthanasia list. I pulled her to safety without even having a rescue lined up because this sweet girl deserved a chance. Thankfully, Labs4Rescue later stepped up to commit to her and help her find the loving forever home she’s been waiting for. Now Skelly is ready for the life she should have had all along — a family to love, a couch to nap on, toys to play with, and plenty of hugs to give. Skelly is spayed, heartworm negative, and up to date on all vaccinations. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, playful companion who will greet you like her long-lost best friend every day, Skelly Belly might just be your girl.
