Scout is a 1.5-year-old neutered male black and tan Australian Shepherd with a gentle heart and a sweet, soulful personality. He came into the shelter with his sister, Jersey, and while they don't have to be adopted together, it's clear he finds comfort in familiar faces. Scout may be a little shy when you first meet him, but give him a little time and you'll see him warm up into a loyal, affectionate companion. Once he feels safe, his sweet nature really shines through. He's still working on his leash skills but is improving every day, and since he's a big foodie, treats are the perfect way to continue his training and build his confidence. Scout has done fairly well in a dog playgroup, but a meet and greet will be required to ensure the right fit with any other dogs. Due to his herding instincts, he would do best in a home without small children or cats. He would thrive in a house with a fenced-in backyard where he can explore, feel secure, and continue to grow. With a little patience and a lot of love, Scout will make an incredibly devoted and loving best friend.
