Meet Link Australian Shepherd | Male | 48 lbs | Born 08/22/2022 Link is a bright, affectionate Australian Shepherd who is being rehomed due to housing loss — through no fault of his own. He is a loving, loyal dog with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Link is a moderate to high energy boy when he’s excited and ready to play, but once he settles in, he’s perfectly happy relaxing at home and lounging near his people (4–5 energy indoors). He loves toys, playing outside, and staying active. Stuffed toys don’t stand a chance — he has a funny habit of going straight for the eyes! He is very intelligent and enjoys learning, making him a great candidate for continued training or enrichment activities. Link loves treats (though he can be a little picky) and is eager to please. He’s friendly at heart and tends to bark when meeting new people — but once introduced, he warms up quickly and becomes affectionate and social. Link does experience anxiety around strangers and unfamiliar dogs, his current owner has not had time to work a lot with him on leash, walking the loss of her home and moving around has been so hard on the dogs, but he’s quick a quick study and she knows when he’s settled with the right Aussie owner, he will learn quickly. With proper introductions, he plays well with other dogs and would enjoy having a canine companion/s. He has never shown aggression — barking is his way of expressing uncertainty, and he settles easily once he feels safe. He has mostly been around older children (13+) and would do best in a home with mature kids or adults only. Link is fearful of fireworks and thunderstorms, during which he typically seeks comfort by hiding in a quiet, dark place. He is okay with car rides though he hasn’t gone on a lot the past two years. Ideal Home Link would thrive with patient, understanding adopters who can provide consistency in an indoor-home environment. He would love someone who enjoys walks, playtime, and mental stimulation — but also appreciates other dogs who want to relax and stay close to their people at home. • Children: 13+ • Dogs: especially females though he’s always lived with a male dog that he loves who is like a brother • Cats: Not recommended Link is a loving, smart, and loyal companion who needs a stable home where he can feel safe and supported. With the right family, he will be an incredibly devoted and rewarding dog.
