Rex is one of those dogs who shows you pretty quickly that first impressions are not always the full story. Shelter life was clearly overwhelming for him at first, but once he started getting outside, stretching his legs, and spending time with people, a much softer side began to shine through. He has been described as wiggly, affectionate, eager for attention, and absolutely full of kisses. He especially seems to love scratches on his itchy back and happily circles back for more affection when the pets stop. Outside of the kennel environment, Rex has shown that he can relax, connect, and truly enjoy being with people. Rex will likely do best with someone patient who understands that sensitive dogs sometimes need a little extra time to feel safe. Once he settles in, he appears to form connections quickly and genuinely enjoys human companionship. He already knows how to walk nicely with people he trusts, recalls well outside, and has shown that he can go from nervous to playful and affectionate with consistency and kindness. There is a very loving dog in there who seems ready to leave the chaos of shelter life behind and finally exhale in a home of his own. All adoptions include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home.
