This brother & sister came from the same litter as puppies, and Oliver Twist & Molly by Golly are now 6 years old and searching for a new place to call home. Their owner sadly passed away, leaving Oliver & Molly with no one to look after them. They are Shetland Sheepdogs, aka Shelties, and are full grown (a little too full grown at over 30 lbs. each, they need to trim down a bit!). They are friendly with other dogs as well as with people, but may need a cat-free home. They are ok around kids but are not interested in playing together with them. Both are house trained and know some basic commands, but need to work on returning when called – they may run off if allowed off-leash outside of a fenced area. Shelties are known to be highly intelligent & trainable, eager to please, and sensitive. They tend to bond closely with their people, and do not do well when left alone for long periods. They can be reserved around strangers or when meeting new people. As working dogs, Shelties need a substantial amount of daily mental & physical activity to prevent boredom and frustration, which can lead to unwanted behaviors like destructive chewing and excessive barking. This pair would love to find a family that can spend a lot of time with them and give them the daily activity & exercise they need to feel their best! *Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit.   If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far processing your application before a home was found.
