At about 13 years young, this Pekingese may be a senior but she carries herself with the confidence of royalty. Kaylee isn't your typical "cuddly all the time" pup - she's more of a charmingly grumpy old lady who knows what she likes (and what she definitely doesn't). And honestly? That just makes her all the more lovable. Kaylee is the happiest enjoying the simple things in life: a nice stroll when the weather is nice, a quick care ride, or lounging in her favorite cozy spot. She still has playful bursts of energy, but she's mostly mastered the art of relaxing in style. She is selective about her inner circle and tends to make quick decisions about her people - but once you're in, you're in. Kaylee could live with another calm, respectful dog or even a cat as long as they understand personal space is a non-negotiable. Rowdy dogs are just not her type. Because she values her peace and routine, Kaylee would do best in an adult-only home. She can get a bit grumbly if disturbed while eating or resting. A true "let me enjoy my snacks" kind of gal. Kaylee can manage going up a few stairs, but will need to be carried down. Kaylee has moderate arthritis in her upper back and hips so our vet has recommended that she stay on a daily supplement (Dasuquin) and consider a collagen supplement as well to keep her mobile for many years to come! Kaylee came to us with a history of urinary concerns (bladder stones) that are well managed with a prescription diet and quarterly vet checks (a urinalysis is recommended every 3 months). Kaylee's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, microchip, and current vaccinations/preventatives. Kaylee is seeking an indoor only home. Last Hope requires that all adopters have a history of having kept their pets indoors, altered, and current on wellness exams, vaccinations and preventatives.
