About Jake
Jake came to the shelter after surviving a hoarding situation where dozens of dogs lived in harsh, unsanitary conditions and had very little positive human contact. When he first arrived, Jake was nervous and kept off the adoption floor, but over time he has grown more comfortable around people. Out of the kennel, he’s starting to discover gentle companionship and trusts humans a little more each day. The shelter is still a lot for him, but he’s showing steady progress, especially on a leash—each new walk brings more confidence. Jake enjoys the company of other dogs and is currently kenneled with one, so he may enjoy having a dog friend in his next home. He needs a calm, patient adopter who understands that his confidence will keep growing if given time and support. Everything he’s accomplished so far suggests he has a lot more potential to thrive.
