Birdie
AvailableBirdie is a sweet, adult mixed-breed dog with Pit Bull Terrier and Basset Hound in her background. She’s medium-sized, female, fully spayed, and her vaccinations are current. Birdie is living in Frenchburg, KY and gets along well with other dogs. She’s waiting for the right person to bring her home.
About Birdie
Birdie was found alone in a rural area, heavily pregnant and in need of help. After raising her six puppies and seeing them all adopted, she stayed behind, waiting for her chance at a home. Following her spay surgery, Birdie faced a tough setback with a stroke that left her unable to walk. Thanks to careful rehab and laser therapy, she’s made a strong recovery and almost back to her old self. She’s good-natured, a bit of a goof, and the kind of short-statured, solid dog everyone loves at the shelter. Birdie gets along well with other dogs, has a gentle spirit, and is ready for a safe, committed adopter willing to share real daily life with her. Birdie is fully up to date on vaccinations and is spayed. She’s ready to head out to her forever family in Frenchburg, KY, and transport is available. Start your journey together! Apply now.

Questions about Birdie
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Birdie, as a Pit Bull Terrier/Basset Hound mix, typically does best in homes where she’s part of daily family routines and not left isolated outdoors. She’ll thrive in a setting with regular human interaction and some space to move around, whether that’s a house with a yard or an apartment with frequent walks.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Birdie’s mixed heritage means she enjoys daily activity and would benefit from access to a yard or reliable walks. She doesn’t need endless outdoor space, but regular opportunities to stretch her legs will help her stay happy and healthy.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Both Pit Bull Terriers and Basset Hounds, like Birdie, can be great with respectful children when supervised. With her gentle nature, Birdie should do well around kids in homes that teach proper animal manners.
