Diego was rescued from the streets of Cleveland, Texas where a local elderly man was doing the best he could to care for multiple dogs that weren’t truly his. Wanting a better life for them, he reached out for help, and Diego made his way into rescue to get the chance he deserves. Diego is a loving, affectionate boy with a fun, energetic personality. He enjoys treats, burrowing under blankets, and getting as much attention as he can from his people. He is mostly potty trained and continues to improve as he settles into a routine. Diego is crate trained and does well with structure. He is currently learning that the leash isn’t something to be afraid of and is making progress with patience and encouragement. He’s also working on recall and is eager to learn, especially when treats are involved. Diego is a sweet, playful boy who will thrive in a home that gives him both love and guidance as he continues to build confidence. Diego is heartworm positive, which is common among strays in the South. The good news is that he is completing treatment and is on his way to being heartworm negative soon.
