Meet Candace. This 3-year-old Chihuahua mix is ready for her fresh start. Candace came into the shelter as a stray with a large wound on her neck from a dog fight. Her body has healed, but emotionally she still carries some of that experience with her, and honestly… who could blame her? What she wants now is simple: safety, love, and her person. Candace bonds quickly and loves deeply. She is a true Velcro dog who wants to be close to her human and soak up all the love and attention she can get. She is currently in foster with other dogs, but she is still learning to trust them. Because of that, she would do best as an only pet or in a home with a small, submissive dog. She is not a fan of crates, but she tolerates them for short periods. She is doing great with housetraining and will even do a little dance at the door when she needs to go out. Candace is located in Clovis, California. We do allow out-of-area and out-of-state adoptions, but the adopter will need to travel to us.
