About Nova

Click apply to start the adoption process. Meet Nova! Nova’s journey began with heartbreak; at only 4 years old and 8 pounds, this little Chihuahua mix landed in the ER after accidentally getting into her previous owner's drug stash. Sadly, her owners never returned for her, leaving Nova behind. From there, she was taken to the shelter, where Chihuahua mixes often go unnoticed—until a caring foster from Paw Squad 559 stepped up to give her a second chance. Nova has proven to be an affectionate and loyal companion who bonds quickly with her person. What she wants most is someone who will love her, keep her safe, and never abandon her again. She is excellent with other small dogs, does well on a potty schedule, and would easily pick up using a doggy door. Nova loves basking in the sun and curling up for cozy naps. She would thrive in a home with older, well-mannered children or no children at all, as she can become snappy if frightened. All Nova asks for is a calm, secure home, a warm lap, and the promise that she will never be left behind. Could you be the person she’s waiting for? Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

Questions about Nova

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Chihuahuas are well suited to apartment living or homes with limited space due to their small size. They thrive in environments where they can be close to their family and feel secure.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Chihuahuas do not require much outdoor space and can get most of their exercise indoors or with short walks. A small, secure yard is a bonus, but not necessary.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Chihuahuas can be suitable for homes with respectful, older children. Their small size makes them more vulnerable to rough handling, so supervision is important in homes with kids.
