About Zela
A foster-to-adopt option lets you spend time with Zela before making things official, which is perfect given her unique needs. Zela is a 13-year-old Chihuahua mix who recently returned to rescue after many years in a home. She’s a gentle, sensitive senior who is deaf and showing early signs of dementia. Sometimes, especially in the mornings, she wakes up disoriented and benefits most from patience and gentle reassurance. Once she’s awake and oriented, she usually settles in and enjoys her day. Evenings can bring bursts of energy or some pacing—zoomies are not out of the question. Zela can get mouthy during this period, but it’s just excitement, not aggression. Because she doesn’t always have a strong sense of self-preservation, she needs a safe, well-supervised environment and an adopter able to keep her out of trouble. She doesn’t appreciate being picked up and does best with plenty of warning for transitions like bedtime or going out. Zela is crate and house trained. Due to her sensitivities, Zela isn’t a fit for homes with young kids. She thrives with someone who can provide structure and kindness, respecting her slower pace. She bonds closely when given a calm, loving environment. Zela is spayed and microchipped, and her vaccinations are current. Born January 14, she’s a reliable Capricorn—steady and quietly devoted to the right person. Zela is in Cumming, GA, and waiting for a new chapter. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!
