About Ophelia

Ophelia is a small mixed breed, about 17 pounds and 4 years old, whose early life was full of hardship. Dumped and left to fend for herself with her siblings, she arrived at her foster home dangerously underweight. Since then, she has slowly discovered safety and love, and her gentle, affectionate nature has begun to shine. Ophelia is especially cuddly, loves toys, and sometimes can't resist grabbing a stray shoe. She gets along well with other dogs, but she is reliably too interested in cats and will chase, so a cat-free home is a must. She’s still picking up a few basic life skills. Leash walking is new to her and she can be shy when meeting people outside or when cars pass by. Housetraining isn’t complete yet, so patience is important; she needs someone who can keep helping her feel confident. Because she's nervous on walks, a securely fenced yard is essential. Ophelia is spayed and microchipped and continues to learn what it means to be cherished. Born January 30, 2022, she’s an Aquarius—spontaneous and curious, often a bit quirky, always ready to try again. She’s endured enough uncertainty for a lifetime and is now ready for someone willing to help her write a much better next chapter. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
