Little Swirl
AvailableLittle Swirl is a young spayed female Plott Hound currently in Chatham, VA. She is medium-sized, house trained, and up to date on vaccinations. Little Swirl gets along well with other dogs but not with cats, and she needs a home that understands her preferences for space and minimal handling.
About Little Swirl
Little Swirl spent her first year surviving on a construction site with a group of dogs, growing up around workers but never really socialized or leash trained. When her makeshift home was cleared out, she was caught after a patient effort and settled into a foster home surprisingly well, considering her limited human contact. She’s a gentle soul who prefers your presence to your direct attention. Little Swirl will lounge nearby or approach for food, but if you acknowledge her too eagerly, she’ll quietly move off to a more private spot. If she wants a bit of affection, she’ll let you know by sniffing your hand or giving you a light touch—but that’s always her choice, and you’ll need to respect her boundaries. With other dogs, she fits right in and loves rough-and-tumble play, though she’s still learning not to get too boisterous. She does well with cats but startles easily and may yelp if surprised, even when the cat hasn’t actually touched her. Little Swirl is nervous around new situations and isn’t cut out for traveling or adventurous walks, but her foster is gradually introducing her to the world outside. She needs a quiet home, ideally with no children or only older, dog-savvy kids who understand not to crowd or restrain her; if she feels trapped, she might nip. Her sweet, cautious personality and striking looks suit someone who wants a companion that sets her own terms for closeness. Click apply to start the adoption process.
