About Goose

Are you my person? I would like to introduce myself… my name is Goose. I am five years old and I have overcome many obstacles to find my home and my person/family. I currently live in a foster home where I am loved and treated the way I deserve. But…. I long for a family and home of my own. I am currently working on some things to make me a good family member. I have not had many experiences with cats and I have been spending time learning that cats can be friends too. I need slow introductions and kind but firm rules about how I am to interact with cats. I really love other dogs but I need to be in a home with dogs who are extremely dog friendly. I would be happy as a single dog or a home with maybe one sibling. Due to no fault of my own I have realized grumpy dogs are not my cup of tea for reasons out of my control. I love children and have spent time with children over the age of five. They love my kisses and respond with kind pats that make my heart so happy. I am a larger dog around 60lbs and I sometimes forget that I am big. As long as I have exercise and playtime I settle in quickly. Toys are my very favorite thing..well except for treats. I will do anything for a treat. I know how to sit, shake, and lay down. Playing cat and mouse with toys is so much fun but I always stay close and do really well off a leash with minimal distractions around me. I do funny things like use my deep voice when I play because I love it so much. I am a big goofball and my foster mom laughs when I excitedly rub on the blankets I have and roll around so excited to be loved. When my foster mom comes home I get so excited but I settle quickly after I express my happiness and excitement. I am great in a crate and I know all the rules of being polite when toileting. My foster mom works so with toys and a comfy bed in my crate I am more than happy to wait for her return. One secret about me is I am a great snuggler. Belly rubs, praise, kisses, and positive reinforcement are things I turn myself inside out for. I even sleep all night on her bed which makes me feel so safe and it’s less time I spend in my crate. Although I like to be where she is I am completely happy settling onto a dog bed and playing with my toys or taking a nap independently. I am good on a leash but I initially pull from excitement and I have been working hard to be better. I have surprised my foster mom at how much I have opened up and settled in once I was allowed to decompress. I was so anxious because I have been through so much but now I know I am safe here. In just a matter of a few weeks I am a different dog and I am so proud of my progress. My mom always makes sure my crate is open and I am free to come and go as I see fit. My foster mom believes I would thrive in a home with a large area to play with lots of toys and snacks. I absolutely love riding in the car and this thing called a drive through is the most amazing treat finder ever. I do have a sensitive belly and ask that new foods be slowly introduced so I don’t get a tummy ache. When I first came to my foster home I was even given calming treats to help me settle in. I liked them very much and after a few weeks I didn’t even need them anymore. My foster mom wishes she could keep me but she has a small pack and she needs to be able to save others dogs just like me. I promise to be your loyal and loving friend. I promise to be there when you need me. Dogs really are special and if you let me I can show you we can have a wonderful life together. My foster mom can’t believe how much I have blossomed and she knows you will think I am as amazing as she does.
