Meet Zeke - our gorgeous, two-year-old Shepherd/Aussie mix who has been patiently waiting for his forever family. Zeke came to us from our rural shelter partner several weeks ago, and since then he has truly thrived in his foster home. This boy is incredibly smart, eager to learn, and has that classic working-breed heart that wants nothing more than to bond with his people and make them proud. Zeke is fully crate trained, does wonderfully with all people, and is absolutely obsessed with other dogs. He greets every new pup with a wagging tail and an open heart, and he gains so much confidence from being around dog friends. While he can get a little anxious in brand-new environments, once he has a moment to take it all in, he settles beautifully and becomes the sweetest, happiest guy in the room. And yet... he keeps getting overlooked. Like so many black-coated dogs, Zeke is a victim of Black Dog Syndrome, where dogs with darker fur are often passed by simply because of their color. It breaks our hearts, because Zeke is pure sunshine on the inside - gentle, affectionate, goofy, and endlessly loyal. He has been one of our longer-term dogs, and we cannot understand why. He is the full package: smart, loving, trainable, great with dogs and people, and ready to be someone's adventure buddy and best friend. Zeke is so deserving of a family who will finally see him for the incredible dog he is.
