About Hook

Captain Hook is a five-year-old Border Collie mix searching for a co-pilot to share life’s adventures. He weighs about 55 pounds, is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and preventatives, and is in good health. Hook thrives around people, children, and other dogs, greets everyone with gentle nuzzles, and gives a soulful-eyed welcome. He’s never lived with cats but finds them interesting from afar. You’ll find him quietly shadowing you from room to room, always watching out for you. Hook hardly ever barks; instead, he communicates his happiness or hunger with low, expressive sounds. He is well-mannered on leash—he doesn’t pull, walks or jogs calmly by your side, and picks up new routines quickly. Car rides aren’t his favorite, as he gets carsick and drools quite a bit, so plan travel around that and don’t feed him just before trips. He lost his first owner, so he often feels safest in his kennel and will retreat there during the day or in storms. He’s house-trained, uses a doggie door (which he mastered after just one demonstration), and has never been a chewer or climber on furniture, though he’d happily rest near you on the floor. Hook has different colored eyes—one blue, one brown—and is learning the joys of toys, even though he sometimes forgets to bring them back. He’s calm, deeply affectionate, and low-maintenance. Hook is ready to brighten someone’s home with loyalty and love. Click apply to start the adoption process.
