About Laken
Why choose me? Temporary Foster Update: Laken was in a foster home for a few days and earned a rave review! "Laken is a calm, sweet, and healthy boy who has been trained to have great indoor manners (crate trained and only going to the bathroom outside). For an affectionate dog, interestingly, he doesn't jump on beds or come into the kitchen for attention or to eat (until I left the kitchen). He is also the first foster dog that let me go to the bathroom alone. At night, he stayed quiet in his crate and was happy each morning. He didn't get into the trash or anything else he wasn't supposed to. During the day, Laken was happy to lie on the floor near me, and would go to his crate for a nap (I left the door open). While working, I let him keep me company on the couch. He did show some energy outside while walking on a leash, but didn't pull towards people or other dogs. He played a little bit with stuffed toys and tennis balls. When a stranger came to the house, he barked once and after a quick sniff test and a few treats, he sat patiently for pets and more treats! He does stand on his back legs when he wants attention, but after a couple of corrections he stopped doing it, showing how quickly he learns and aims to please." As you can see from the picture, Laken was a hit with the resident teenager. He's almost certainly a ‘no cats' kinda guy, though. With the dogs he's met at the shelter he has been playful, although his play style is probably a little rough for some dogs so this might be something to work on.
