About Ernie Maxwell
Ernie Maxwell came from Tennessee, where he survived a tough start with his siblings. One lost their life to a gunshot before rescuers arrived, and another passed away from Parvo, but Ernie pulled through. He’s a sweet, young Australian Kelpie who starts off shy, especially around strangers. Once he settles in, Ernie loves tearing around the yard with zoomies and digging into a good toy session. He's wary of leashes attached to a collar, but does much better with a harness. A patient adopter would help him keep learning that people are safe and kind. He’s house trained and vaccinated, and best suited for a home ready to go slow and meet him where he’s at. Ernie gets along with most dogs, but does not like cats and is nervous around farm animals. He’ll let you know when someone’s at the door with a bark, but is otherwise learning what it means to relax and trust. Give him a chance and he just might become your loyal companion.
