About Hershey Kissinger
Hershey Kissinger’s story starts rough: rescued with many other dogs from a tough spot in South Mississippi, she came into foster still figuring out how to just be a dog. At first, Hershey had no idea what toys or treats were, but with patient foster care, she learned that people mean snuggles, safe laps, and—more recently—chew toys for when she gets nervous. Hershey bonds closely with her humans and always wants to be near them; she’ll happily ride in the car, as long as you’re with her. Cats don’t faze her, and she’s house trained. Hershey isn’t looking for much outdoor adventure; she prefers heading out just long enough to handle her business before curling up inside with the people she loves. Being alone for long hours won’t work for her—she needs companionship and doesn’t do well by herself for extended stretches. Big dogs make her uneasy, while people (and probably kids) are unquestionably her favorite company. She nearly had a home, but was returned due to her adopter’s tragic accident. Hershey is simply looking for a steady, loving, committed home—preferably with humans who appreciate her openhearted, affectionate personality and her desire to stick close.
