About Xena
Meet Xena - a warrior with the sweetest heart. Xena came to us back in January from a cruelty and neglect case in Juneau County. Before rescue, her life was heartbreakingly small - she spent her days tied outside on a short chain with little comfort and even less love. When she arrived, Xena was in rough shape. She was suffering from a life-threatening pyometra infection and tested heartworm positive, but thanks to dedicated veterinary care and a whole lot of resilience, this brave girl has been steadily healing. Despite everything she's been through, Xena is one of the most loving, gentle dogs you'll ever meet. She absolutely adores people and has a soft, affectionate personality that shines the moment you meet her. One of her most endearing quirks is carrying her toys around with her everywhere she goes - it's her favorite thing and it's unbelievably adorable to watch. Xena gets along well with other dogs, has done great with kids, and with slow, proper introductions would likely do just fine with cats too. She truly just wants to be near her people and soak up the love she missed out on for so long. Xena has already completed her first heartworm treatment, and her final treatment is scheduled in just a couple of weeks. Because of this, she is currently available as a foster-to-adopt while she finishes up her medical care. Our team will guide her new family through the last step of treatment so she can start her next chapter healthy and strong. After a lifetime on a chain, Xena deserves the world - a warm bed, a yard to explore, toys to carry proudly, and a family who will spoil her absolutely rotten. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion who will appreciate every bit of kindness you give her, Xena is ready to meet you. She's waited long enough for her happy ending. All of our dogs are dewormed, spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and heartworm tested if they are old enough.
