Meet Velveeta - one of Colby's adorable little cheese curds! Before coming to us, Velveeta's mom, Colby, had a tough start to life. She came from Peoria Animal Control after being seized due to neglect. Colby had spent most of her life tied outside and repeatedly bred. Shortly after arriving at PCAS, she gave birth to her puppies, and the whole little family eventually made their way to us to start fresh. When Colby first arrived, she was understandably nervous, overwhelmed, and very protective of her babies. But it didn't take long for us to discover the secret to winning her over: cheese! Once she realized she was safe (and that cheese was involved), her sweet personality started to shine. In honor of the snack that stole her heart, all of her puppies were lovingly named after cheeses - Colby and her little cheese curds. Now 8 weeks old, Velveeta is ready to find a family of her very own! Like most pit mix puppies, she is playful, curious, a little stubborn, and full of personality. Velveeta loves exploring the world, playing with their siblings, and soaking up attention from their people. With proper intros, Velveeta will do well with other dogs, kids, and cats. She will thrive with structure, guidance, and plenty of positive experiences, and will do best with a family committed to continuing their puppy training and socialization as she grows. These little cheese curds have overcome a rough start through no fault of their own, and they have so much love and potential to give.
